A global outlook
We operate fluently in both English and Chinese, with in-house capability to coordinate projects for overseas clients and consultant teams, alongside a detailed understanding of UK planning and regulatory processes. We draw on our varied cultural experiences to create context-driven designs that are sensitive and responsive to the sites and people that experience them.

Beyond architecture
We also work on products, artwork, and other design-led projects, seeing creativity as something that extends beyond a single discipline. Throughout all our work, we remain practical and open to collaboration, working with ambitious and curious people to deliver designs with quality, clarity, and meaning.
Based in Battersea, central London, with an active presence in Lisbon, we take a considered and practical approach to design, focussed on clarity, context, artistry and value. We are listeners, and centre each project around a clear understanding of our clients’ key objectives and overall strategy. We take complex briefs, constraints, and ideas, and shape them into legible, well-considered projects with a strong sense of identity, whatever the scale.
We are an architecture and design studio working across residential, commercial, and cultural sectors.
LONDON
LISBON
SHANGHAI
Dan has over 15 years’ experience working across residential and commercial projects, with a strong background in housing design and spatial planning. This has given him a detailed understanding of the London market. He studied architecture at the Bartlett School of Architecture and the University of Nottingham.
At AERT, Dan leads the studio’s design direction and is closely involved in the design and delivery of all projects. Alongside architecture, he has a strong interest in drawing and art, which often feeds into the way he approaches design

Dan Slavinsky
Li is an architect and maker, who leads the studio's direction in integrating technology, including AI, in how we work to support both efficiency and creativity in the design process.
Li studied architecture at the Architectural Association in London and the University of Edinburgh, and he has worked both in mainland China and the UK with a background in both residential and cultural sectors.
His design approach brings together technology and artistic thinking to create spaces with clear identity.

Mu Li
The studio is led by two directors with complementary backgrounds in architecture and design. Both remain closely involved in all projects, ensuring ideas are carried through from concept to completion.
This hands-on structure keeps the studio small, focused, and responsive, while giving clients direct access to decision-makers throughout the life of a project.
Ongoing Collaboration
We are currently working in collaboration with E8 ARCHITECTURE on London-based, larger-scale projects. This builds on an existing relationship, with Dan having previously worked closely with E8. We share the same values about design excellence, clarity of thought and intelligent delivery
We have an ongoing partnership with EVOGMA, working together on high-end residential projects across Hong Kong and Mainland China. The collaboration brings together deep local insight, shared design values, and an international design perspective
Sustainability + Passive Haus
As standards continue to rise, we see energy efficiency as central to the future of architecture. PassivHaus design will become increasingly relevant across a wide range of projects, from individual homes to larger residential and commercial buildings and we believe this and similar approaches can add real value, reduce energy demand and improve project viability if cleverly applied.
We are actively developing our knowledge in this area, and we work closely with industry specialists to bring high-performance, low-energy strategies into our projects in a considered and practical way. We are always happy to discuss how these principles can be applied to a specific project or development strategy.

Collaboration is central to how we work as a studio. We collaborate to scale our resources depending on the scope of a project, and it is also an important part of our identity.
Working with other talent designers allows us to stay inspired, stay creative and stay engaged with the wider industry. We collaborate with consultants, manufacturers and artists, as well as working on side projects and product development that feed back into the studio’s architectural work.

Working at a smaller scale allows us to test materials and form in a direct, hands-on way, often through prototypes or one-off pieces developed in the studio. It is a space where we can design with flair and draw inspiration from unexpected or everyday references.
Our product work is closely tied to lifestyle — clothing, footwear, lighting, and functional architectural objects — and we enjoy thinking of ways how these pieces can feed back and inform our architectural work

We develop products alongside our architectural work as a way of testing ideas through making.

Feasibility

At AERT, our residential architecture service focuses on delivering carefully considered homes that balance design quality, technical rigour, and long-term value.
Our experience includes refurbishments, extensions, loft conversions, and high-end interior architecture, with particular attention to building regulations, energy performance, and buildability. We use advanced tools such as 3D modelling and VR to help clients understand space, materials, and light early in the process, enabling informed decisions and a smooth transition from design to construction.
